Medication & Approach
What is Medication-Assisted Treatment?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a proven approach to treating opioid addiction. It involves the use of medication, such as methadone, suboxone, or naltrexone, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapy. MAT has been shown to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, improve quality of life, and increase the chances of long-term recovery.
Medications Used in Our Opioid Treatment Service
At our clinic, we primarily use methadone to treat opioid addiction. Methadone is a synthetic opioid that has been used for over 50 years to treat opioid dependence. It works by binding to the same receptors in the brain as other opioids, but in a much slower and less intense way. This helps to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, allowing individuals to stabilize and begin working on their recovery.
In certain cases, we may also use buprenorphine (Suboxone) or naltrexone (Vivitrol) as part of our medication-assisted treatment. Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone and is used to help individuals overcome opioid dependence. Vivitrol (Naltrexone) is an opioid antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids, making it useful in preventing relapse.

How Do I Enter the Program?
At Courageous Transformations, we understand that opioid addiction often co-occurs with other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). That's why our intake process involves a comprehensive assessment with our medical team, which includes a doctor and a counselor who specialize in co-occurring conditions and trauma-informed care.
During the intake process, our team will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that meets your specific needs. We will ask questions about your medical history, substance use, and any co-occurring conditions you may have. This information will help us determine the most appropriate course of treatment for you.
Everything is kept confidential. We cannot disclose any patient information!
We will also conduct physical exams, lab tests, and other assessments to ensure that we have a complete understanding of your health status. All information gathered during the intake process is kept strictly confidential and used solely for the purpose of creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
I have been going to CT for about 4 years now I have been drug-free for most of that time I still have some slips ups but they always help me get back on track. [...] I've grown to think of the staff there as good friends but I have always been treated daily and with respect.

How We Build Your Treatment Plan
Trauma & Co-Occuring Conditions
At Courageous Transformations, we recognize the importance of addressing co-occurring conditions and trauma in the treatment of opioid addiction. We take a trauma-informed approach to care, which means that we understand the impact that trauma can have on an individual's mental health and well-being.
Our medical team is trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of co-occurring conditions and trauma and to provide appropriate care and support. We offer counseling and behavioral therapy that is specifically designed to address trauma and other mental health concerns.
What This Means for You
